Why Creative Choices?

At Yellow Bird Studio, we are all about encouraging children and adults to make creative choices with their art. We use this approach because it is a way to use "metacognitive" processes we need to develop to be critical thinkers and good decision makers in our life. Metacognition is basically when we think about our thinking. This kind of mental work is like fertilizer for our brains, both young and old!

We encourage our guests and students to use their imagination, to question, to discuss, to discover. We love to introduce new media, processes and techniques, but never do we want to hijack an art project and shut down rich ideas. We all have plenty of opportunities to follow step-by-step instruction for the rest of our lives, so we like to give the process of the having of great ideas a time and a place to happen!

Attention Punch Card Holders!

If you bought a five class punch card this year, especially for our Hand in Hand classes, please know that these will expire on May 24th! We will be closed the week of Memorial day and then start our summer camp classes. No credits or roll-overs are given, so try to come out between now and May 24th and do some art together!

Summer Camp Update

Most of our mornings are full and afternoons are booking up! Don't wait too long to register because we anticipate both mornings and afternoon camps will be completely full by the time we start camp on June 4th. If you are in doubt as to which camp would be best for your child, don't hesitate to call!

Survey: Possible Crafternoons and/or Hand in Hand Classes in July

We expected to be closed the week of July 2-6, but we are considering opening the studio on July 2,3,5,6 for Hand in Hand in the mornings from 10-12 and/or Crafternoons from 1-3 in the afternoons. If you think this is something you might be interested in, please contact us and we will make a decision in the next few weeks and announce it through our blog and social media so you can register online.
