Kids Need Hands On Art Not Hands On Tech

You may not know it, but Yellow Bird Studio has its roots in child development and psychology, and what are best practices for children.
This is because prior to opening Yellow Bird Studio, Florie and Pamela spent over 30 years (together and separately) doing what they are passionate about: creating wonderfully enriching spaces that children love because they feel respected, they feel independent, they feel they have choice and they feel they have voice.
After decades in the education field, they both saw the same thing: Art makes you smart. Art makes you understand your world. Art connects you to other people. Art connects the brain and the hand (something Maria Montessori really was passionate about). But they also saw the opposite: Art getting cut from schools. Parents spending more money on tech than on paints. And they saw the light dimming on how society values creativity. They got sad, then they got mad, then got to work! In 2017 they put all their time and resources into the first Yellow Bird Studio, eventually opening up the Gunn Highway and the Heights studios to bring creativity and self expression back to the children.
Loris Malguzzi, the founder of the Reggio Emilia early childhood schools in Italy wrote a poem that is their guiding philosophy, which we want to share with you!
We have seen so many students bloom at our studios- that is why the word BLOOM is in big letters at each studio, because that is what we are about- passionate encouragers of out of the box thinking, thinking big, thinking strange, thinking "what if?"
With that in mind, we are excited to start up a new semester and continue our mission to help children BLOOM!
Winter Semester Opens November 1st!

Current families have until October 31 to pre-register their child for the new semester, and then we will make all the remaining spots available to the community on November 1.
We are adding some new classes this semester to address what you have been saying your kids want more of!
And here are some images from the Fall Semester of the children's work!

If you have any questions about our classes or camps, please contact the studio nearest you.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
