Seminole Heights Studio Open House Saturday!

  • 4 min read

We are putting the finishing touches on the Heights studio for our Open House event this Saturday, May 2, from 10:00-12:00. We will have some arts and crafts for you to make and take and give you an opportunity to explore the space, meet the owners and instructors, and meet our new canary, Limoncello! We have parking on the side of the building and on the other side of the side street we are on, next to the black building being renovated. Please know there are residences behind us, so please do not block their drive way- thank you!

We have single day classes at the Heights studio during the month of May for your kids to try out after school. Plus, we are offering a Grand Opening special price for summer camps at the Heights Studio as well! Registration for these is on the Heights Studio page. If you have questions about any of this, please contact Ms Pamela at YellowBirdHeights@gmail.com or call her at 813-400-0174.

Afterschool Classes End May 22, 2026!

As we wrap-up afterschool classes for the year, we want to say THANK YOU for sending your children to our classes! There are literally hundereds of projects and art works that they made; some took a few minutes and some took a few weeks, like this paper mache Space Shuttle a student made at the Gunn Highway studio in our Imagination Club class. They also made great memories and made great friends!

It is our mission to bring the opportunity for creative expression through visual arts and crafts to the children of our community. We take our responsibility seriously and are proud of what we do, not only in creating beautiful spaces with a wide variety of materials, but also a space that is safe for children to be themselves, take healthy risks, try new things and ideas, explore, expand, problem solve and collaborate.

So much growth happens at our studios, but it is often the quiet kind of growth that happens over time, like a tree who reaches higher and higher into the sky each year. That kind of steady and resilient growth through creating things makes them strong inside, because they value the process, not the product, and therefore it becomes more meaningful and valuable over time.

We will not have regular classes in June or July, but will resume our scheduled classes the week of August 17, 2026. Currently enrolled families will have the months of May and June to pre-register for fall, and payment will not be due until August 1, 2026. Open enrollment for the community will happen on July 1, 2026. Much of our schedule will stay the same for all studios, but Art Lab classes will be increasing back to the 1.5 hours we use to do because we saw this year the kids really need that time!

For 2026-27 we will be using a 12 week long semester period for our classes, but you can enroll any time and your tuition will be prorated for the weeks left of the semester.

Semesters will run as follows:

Semester 1 Summer/Fall: August 17-November 6 2026,

Semester 2 Fall/Winter: November 9, 2026- February 19, 2027

(No classes November 23-27, December 21-January 1)

Semester 3 Winter/Spring: February 22- May 21, 2027

No classes March 15-19)

Supply fees are included in the price of each class.

ALL of our classes and camps are approved elective courses for families who have the PEP scholarship for homeschooling!

Summer Art Enrichment Camps Filling Up!

We are almost done with pre-registration for our Summer Enrichment Art Camps at all three locations! Some of the camps are already full for the morning slots, but the afternoons still have space. We like to tell parents that afternoon camps are ideal for families who have no desire to rush out the door in the mornings during the summer and enjoy a leisurely morning waking up whenever, having a long breakfast, some play-time, maybe taking a dip in the pool before the storms start, or even doing our camp after one at another location in the morning.

What makes our camps one of, if not the most, favorite of the summer is the projects! We always have one long-term project that takes several days, like sewing, paper mache or model building. Also, we don't go above 12-15 total campers, and then divide the group int smaller groups of up to 4-5 kids that stay together for the week, allowing them to get to know their fellow campers better. We keep siblings and freinds in the smaller group if they want that, and for those who come by themselves, we put them in like-age/ grade groups.

We keep them really busy the whole three hours, making arts and crafts and eliminate wait time. We also have rules that set the tone for respect and a calm, but busy, atmosphere that is not chaotic- another reason kids love it there! Also, although the projects are planned out ahead of time, we always allow for individuality and self expression. The Hogwarts Village paper mache project shown below is a great example of each child making their favorite building or scene come to life!

And if your child is a Harry Potter fan, this will be the last summer for a while that we will be offering it. It has been a constant summer option since 2019, and we have enjoyed it so much since we are Potter fans ourselves! So, if you were ever thinking about doing this one, this is the year! Below are a few images from last year's camp!

If you have any questions about our camps or camp policies, visit our Summer Camp page and click on the downloadable PDF Camp Brochure, or contact the studio you are interested in to talk to Florie or Pamela.
