School's Out Camps and More!

No School? Want some fun on the town without the kids? Looking for creative exploration and play on the weekend? Yellow Bird Studio is offering several programs for school agers in October.

Friday, October 13 we have a Parent's Night Out from 6-9 where we will have spooky arts and crafts available as well as popcorn and an age appropriate movie.

Saturday, October 14 we are offering our next Crafternoon with Harry Potter inspired crafts from 1-3.

Monday, October 16 from 10-2 we will have a School's Out Mini-camp with all kinds of ways for students to draw, paint, print, collage, sculpt, sew, weave, or tinker around making their ideas happen! Bring your lunch or have us order pizza for $5 more.

All school age events have a 4 student min/12 student max. Sign up on line by visiting our Registration and Payment page, or contact the studio to add your child to the list.

Featured Artist:

Gage is an avid sewer who comes to our Art Club once per week. His skills have improved so much that now he is learning about designing his own patterns! Here is Gage with a Minion named "Stewart" he made for a school friend. He worked with Ms Pamela on the steps needed to design a concept from beginning to end. The ability to design, plan and carry out a project is a tremendous real-world skill that all children need to be successful in school and life, and art projects of this type are great for developing that skill. Great job Gage!

Studio Inspirations:

This week we will take a walk on the wild side with arts and crafts inspired by the book, "Where the Wild Things Are". We will make crowns, imaginary creatures, and explore different painting techniques in both our Hand in Hand class and Paint and Puddles class.

You Can Do It!

Bring in some seasonal decor with the help of your kids. First, find some interesting leaves outside that have a variety of colors, splotches and veining that have fallen. Lay them out on your craft or kitchen table, or even on the drive way. Next, get some paper bags from the grocery store and cut them up into large leaf shapes. With your child, look at the colors of the leaves and try creating those colors with tempera paints or watercolors. Then, apply the paint to the paper bag leaf shapes and create beautiful fall art for your home!
